Faceless

Faceless

Faceless explores the nature of desire. On a rotating stage enhanced by 3D set extension, an enigmatic figure continually turns away, keeping her face hidden and embodying a disquieting tension between presence and absence, the symbolic and the real—an endless interplay of longing and unfulfillment.

The work draws from Jacques Lacan’s theory, particularly the complex interplay between the symbolic, the imaginary, and the real. Lacan’s concept of the 'imaginary' extends beyond mere images or illusions; it refers to the way visual representations and mental constructs shape our perception of ourselves and the world around us. This concept is central to understanding the role of desire and identification, as the imaginary is where the subject first encounters the image of their own reflection, setting the stage for unconscious desires that influence how we engage with reality.
