inter-stela
An interactive kiosk built for a LIDL Christmas campaign: meet a virtual Santa, receive chocolate. The archived concept later expanded into proposals for public information and dispensing stations.
inter-stela is an interactive kiosk that connects an interaction on a screen with a physical reward. It was first used in a YouTube campaign for Lidl's Christmas season: visitors talked to a virtual Santa Claus and received chocolate from the kiosk.
Concept
What happens on the screen decides what the kiosk dispenses. The same principle carries over to other places: real-time information, promotions and small items at airports, train stations, shopping centers and petrol stations. A speculative variant adds outdoor print stations, where people without a printer at home print documents in cooperation with a nearby copy shop.
Hardware and software
- Display: 65-inch 4K screen for indoor and outdoor use.
- Kiosk: compact housing with touchscreen, payment module (NFC/RFID) and a dispensing mechanism for different products.
- Software: customizable interaction logic with AI-supported dialogue and game elements.
- Connection: Wi-Fi and Ethernet for remote content management and analytics.
- Installation: modular, with minimal changes to existing infrastructure; remote maintenance.
Status
Archived concept. The prototype ran for the Lidl campaign. A series version would require further development and funding.
